When Things Get Hard, We Keep Making Art

In the last six months, we've taken our time away from the stage to refocus on what's important to us, and what's important to you. Zoom meetings, chat threads, and occasional socially-distanced outdoor conversations are keeping us in touch and inspired to create work that fulfills our mission while keeping everyone safe and healthy.

 TSOC in the Community
The ongoing civil unrest, and its ripple effect into every corner of American society, have proven that arts organizations are not exempt from committing to social progress. Last month, we formed an Equity Committee, which will continuously analyze the company's structures and practices with regards to institutional racism. We also decided to forgo our usual end-of-season fundraiser in favor of a fundraiser for our community partner YEPP and a coalition of other POC-led community organizations.

Reimagining operaand our fall production
With live theatre in enclosed spaces not looking safe anytime soon, we have postponed our originally-scheduled fall show to May 2021 and will be spending our fall on an exciting new project: commissioning new works from composers of color, designed for remote performance.

We received an incredible number and variety of submissions from composers all over the world, and will be choosing up to three to work with this fall. A streamed premiere will take place in December, following a three-month writing and workshopping period and a month of remote and socially-distanced rehearsals.

We want to hear from you!
We have spent significant time this summer looking inward. As we move forward in these ever-changing times, we want to be sure we're serving our community in the best way we can.

To help us do that, we've designed a short community survey! CLICK HERE to spend approximately 10 minutes sharing some of your thoughts with us, and we promise to take them into consideration as we plan for the future.

Help us continue to grow
We are thriving and growing because of the generous support of audience members and donors like you. We'd love for you to consider making a tax-deductible gift to this coming season by clicking here or by mailing a check to the address on our contact page.

However you choose to support us, we are so grateful for you. Stay safe and healthy, and we hope to see you soon.
